When working with Play Outside, we knew this was more than just a design project. It was an opportunity to craft a brand that captures the joy, freedom, and simplicity of outdoor play, combined with the desire of moms to get back to their adventurous outdoorsy selves.
Play Outside is all about helping moms and kids get outside more—without the stress, excess, or hassle. Their minimalist, high-quality outdoor apparel for kids is designed for hiking, camping, fishing, and everyday adventure. The challenge? Creating a brand that reflects versatility, sustainability, and a deep love for nature—all while feeling playful and approachable.
We developed a visual identity that blends modern simplicity with playful positivism, by crafting a vibrant color palette than both kids and parents would love, and balances fun with the love of nature. We steered away from the typical muted nature tones, and leaned into the fun.
Logo & Typography → The Play Outside logo features clean, organic hand drawn lines along with a playful typeface that feel both familiar and fun.
Color Palette → Inspired by earth, sky, water, and sun, with a vibrant saturated feel, the colors were meant to inspire the feelings we get outdoors. Like the sun shining in our face, or jumping into the ocean. Exhilarating.
Brand Elements → Every design choice was made with versatility in mind, ensuring that the branding feels as functional, adaptable, and effortlessly stylish as the apparel itself.
